Born in Newark NJ and younger brother of legendary jazz trumpeter Woody Shaw, played college football at Northwestern University where he was twice named first team All Big 10. Drafted in 1977 by the San Diego Chargers where he played 5 years and later traded to the New York Giants for another 3 seasons. During his career, Pete was privileged to have played for 3 of the greatest coaches in NFL history; Don Coryell, Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick. They have all recognized Pete as a strong and natural leader among his teammates. Well known for his hard hitting style of play and tough no nonsense attitude. In his first 2 seasons he was twice named the Bolts Special Teams Player of the Year. For almost a decade he held the Chargers record for the most interceptions in a single game. After leaving the gridiron, Pete has enjoyed a successful career in the world of investments as a financial advisor to high net worth individuals and families, helping his clients achieve their financial goals for almost 30 years. Pete frequently gives of his time and is strongly committed to his community in San Diego and national charity fundraisers, golf and special events around the country.
